MediumCVSS 4.3
Published: Updated: Translated: NVD NIST

Summary

Mattermost fails to check if hardened mode is enabled when overriding the username and/or the icon when posting a post. If settings allowed integrations to override the username and profile picture when posting, a member could also override the username and icon when making a post even if the Hardened Mode setting was enabled.

Risk Assessment

A user could impersonate another person or integration by posting with a spoofed username and icon, potentially leading to phishing or misinformation within the organization.

Recommendation

Update Mattermost to a version containing the fix and review integration and hardened mode configuration.
