Weekly CVE digest
One email a week with newly published vulnerabilities worth knowing about. No account needed.
This digest covers new vulnerabilities in general, not your servers. If you want to know which of them actually run in your infrastructure, that is what Secvalis does: it scans your machines and reports only what concerns them.
The Ninja Forms plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to arbitrary shortcode execution in all versions up to, and including, 3.15.5. This is due to the software allowing users to execute an action that does not properly validate a value before running do_shortcode. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with subscriber-level access and above, to execute arbitrary shortcodes.
The Ninja Forms plugin for WordPress (versions up to and including 3.15.5) is vulnerable to arbitrary shortcode execution. This is due to the software allowing users to execute an action that does not properly validate a value before running do_shortcode, enabling unauthenticated attackers to execute arbitrary shortcodes.
A command injection vulnerability in the Orchestrator component of SoftIron HyperCloud allows an authenticated user with management plane access to execute arbitrary operating system commands on hypervisor hosts as the privileged orchestration user. Attacker-controlled virtual machine template content (e.g., the VM DESCRIPTION field) is delivered to hosts through a shell here-document whose terminator is not quoted, enabling shell expansion and here-document terminator injection during VM lifecycle operations such as deploy, migrate, and network setup. The issue affects versions 1.0 through 2.6.17 and is fixed in 2.6.18.
The File Force Download module for Drupal 7 versions 7.1.0 through 7.1.2 returned Content-Disposition headers without access checks for files outside the private scheme. An unauthenticated visitor could retrieve files in the temporary:// scheme or other stream wrappers by appending download=1 to the URL.
The Field Collection module for Drupal 7 (versions 7.x-1.0 through 7.x-1.2) has an improper authorization flaw. field_collection_item_access() grants edit and delete access to any user with the 'edit field collections' permission without verifying access to the host entity.
The pow-auth Assent library's Sign in with Apple strategy trusts the browser-supplied 'user' parameter, which the client controls. That parameter is merged over the verified ID token claims, allowing an unauthenticated remote attacker to impersonate another user. Affects versions from 0.1.25 before 0.3.2.
In Shopify App (Rails engine) from 22.1.0 until 23.0.3, token-exchange authenticated controllers can expose a request-derived shop context instead of the identity from a verified Shopify ID token or active session. current_shopify_domain can resolve to the sanitized shop query parameter, so a request authenticated for one shop can be treated as another requested shop.
A vulnerability in secp256k1-native (native C implementation for Ruby) causes GCC 14.3.0, 15.1.0, and 15.2.0 at -O2 to reconstruct branchless selections into conditional jumps (je/jne), leaking timing information about the secret scalar. The flaw affects native builds, not the pure-Ruby path.
In i18next before version 26.3.4, deepExtend in src/utils.js checks property existence with the in operator and recurses into inherited built-ins reached through Object.prototype. If an application explicitly passes attacker-controlled resource data to addResourceBundle with both deep: true and overwrite: true, keys such as hasOwnProperty, toString and valueOf can select shared inherited built-in function objects, and a nested value can overwrite a property of those objects process-wide. For example, making Object.prototype.hasOwnProperty.call non-callable causes subsequent uses, including i18next internals, to throw TypeError, resulting in unrecoverable denial of service and limited integrity impact.
In Coop before 1.0.2, addAccessibleQueuesForUser and removeAccessibleQueuesForUser accepted arbitrary queueId and userId values without organization scoping. An authenticated user belonging to one organization and holding MRT queue-edit permission could grant or revoke another organization's users' access to manual review queues. The existing queue-edit permission check did not bind the supplied identifiers to the caller's organization. The attacker could not read the other organization's queues or jobs, so this issue did not disclose confidential data.
Coop is an open source review and moderation tool from ROOST. Prior to 1.0.2, `resetPasswordForToken` updates the password row without invalidating database-backed sessions. An attacker who has acquired a password and established a session retains access even after the legitimate user resets the password, leaving the compromised account under attacker control until the session expires at its `30-day` maximum age.
In Coop before 1.0.0, the GraphQL Mutation.createOrg operation allows an unauthenticated actor to create arbitrary organizations on a publicly accessible instance. In addition to creating noise in the logs, the lack of rate limiting could potentially lead to database exhaustion. Running the service on an authenticated private network prevents outside actors from directly querying the GraphQL API.
In Coop prior to 1.0.2, the SAML strategy verify callback resolved the authenticated user by email alone using kyselyUserFindByEmail, without binding the lookup to the organization in /saml/login/:orgId/callback. An attacker who administers an organization and controls its SAML IdP signing key can submit an assertion for a victim email to another organization's callback when that target organization has registered the same signing certificate.
In Coop prior to 1.0.0, an unauthenticated actor can query Query.allOrgs through /api/v1/graphql on a publicly accessible deployment and obtain data for all organizations, including IDs, names, email addresses, website URLs and on-call alert email addresses. The usersWhoCanReviewEveryQueue field also exposes reviewing users' IDs, email addresses, names, roles, permissions and creation dates.
In OpenSearch SQL in the 2.x line from 2.8.0.0 until 2.19.6.0 and the 3.x line prior to 3.7.0.0, a remote authenticated user with basic read/search permissions can provide a crafted cursor parameter to the plugins/sql endpoint and trigger unsafe deserialization of untrusted data, resulting in arbitrary code execution on the server.
In TAKO AI Agent for Okta prior to 3.0.1-beta, any authenticated user with a valid fctr_session cookie can submit arbitrary Python source in the script_code field of POST /api/react/execute-script without administrator privilege. The source is stored with skip_discovery=True, bypasses validate_generated_code (e.g. via dynamic getattr chains through __builtins__) and is executed by asyncio.create_subprocess_exec() as the application process user, root by default in the container.
In TAKO AI Agent for Okta prior to 3.0.1-beta, the POST /api/auth/setup endpoint allows an unauthenticated network attacker to create the first administrator account before the legitimate owner completes initial setup. The initial_setup function checks only the is_setup flag and requires no authentication, bootstrap token, or network restriction, and the default configuration listens on 0.0.0.0:8001.
In Refitter prior to 2.1.2, the header parameter name in parameters[].name with in: header is emitted verbatim into a Refit [Header("<name>")] attribute string without escaping quotation marks. An attacker-influenced OpenAPI description can pass default validation without --skip-validation and break out of the parameter-list position, generating valid C# with a file class and [ModuleInitializer] method that executes attacker code when the compiled assembly is loaded.
Refitter prior to 2.1.2 emits OpenAPI `paths` object keys verbatim into Refit route attributes without escaping quotation marks. A crafted single-line, slash-prefixed path can close the attribute, interface, and namespace and inject a top-level class with a `[ModuleInitializer]` method that executes attacker code when the generated assembly is loaded. The issue is fixed in version 2.1.2.
Refitter prior to 2.1.2 emits content-type keys from `requestBody/responses` content maps verbatim into a Refit `[Headers(...)]` attribute string without escaping quotation marks. A crafted content-type key in an OpenAPI description can break out of the attribute, interface, and namespace and inject a top-level class with a `[ModuleInitializer]` method that executes attacker code when the generated assembly is loaded. The issue is fixed in version 2.1.2.
