Weekly CVE digest
One email a week with newly published vulnerabilities worth knowing about. No account needed.
This digest covers new vulnerabilities in general, not your servers. If you want to know which of them actually run in your infrastructure, that is what Secvalis does: it scans your machines and reports only what concerns them.
NotificationX plugin for WordPress 2.0.0 before 2.3.12 contains an unauthenticated SQL injection vulnerability that allows remote attackers to manipulate database queries by supplying an array-form 'id' parameter to /wp-json/notificationx/v1/notification/{id}. Attackers can pass id[1] with crafted SQL, such as time-based SLEEP payloads, along with an api_key derived from md5(home_url()), which flows unsanitized into Database::get_where_query to extract database contents.
OrbiTeam BSCW Server 5.x before 5.2.5 and 7.x before 7.4.4 contains an unauthenticated path traversal vulnerability in the style_name parameter of the theme operation. Attackers can send GET requests to /pub/bscw.cgi/<id>?op=theme with ../ sequences in style_name to read local files such as /etc/passwd.
DedeCMS through 5.8.1-beta contains a PHP code injection vulnerability in ShowMsg() where the HTTP Referer header is written into a DedeTemplate string and included. Unauthenticated attackers can send a crafted Referer to /plus/flink.php?dopost=save with an empty validation code to execute arbitrary PHP and system commands.
JeeWMS before commit 0a610e8 contains an unauthenticated path traversal vulnerability that allows remote attackers to read arbitrary files via the dbPath parameter. Attackers can send GET requests to /systemController/showOrDownByurl.do with ../ sequences in dbPath, which bypasses AuthInterceptor, to retrieve files like win.ini.
FineReport 9.0 contains a path traversal vulnerability in the /WebReport/ReportServer design_save_svg operation that allows unauthenticated attackers to write arbitrary files via the filePath parameter. Attackers can send a POST request with directory traversal sequences in filePath and a __CONTENT__ payload to write a JSP webshell and achieve remote code execution.
Weaver E-cology 8.0 contains a path traversal vulnerability that allows unauthenticated attackers to read arbitrary files through the fpath parameter of the /weaver/ln.FileDownload endpoint. Attackers can send crafted GET requests with directory traversal sequences in fpath to retrieve sensitive files such as WEB-INF/web.xml from the server.
Sickbeard through build-507 contains a reflected cross-site scripting vulnerability that allows unauthenticated attackers to inject scripts through the pattern parameter of /config/postProcessing/testNaming. Attackers can craft GET requests with malicious SVG onload payloads that the testNaming handler returns unescaped, executing JavaScript in victims' browsers.
WooThemes Diarise through 1.5.9 contains a file read vulnerability that allows unauthenticated attackers to read arbitrary files through the calendar parameter of download.php. Attackers can send GET requests with file:// scheme paths to the calendar parameter to disclose sensitive files like /etc/passwd.
SeaCMS through 8.7 contains an unauthenticated SQL injection vulnerability that allows remote attackers to manipulate database queries by injecting SQL through the rlist[] array parameter. Attackers can send GET requests to /comment/api/index.php with crafted rlist[] values using backtick-quoted variables and extractvalue to extract database information via error messages.
MetInfo CMS 6.0.0 before 6.1.1 contains a path traversal vulnerability in /include/thumb.php that allows unauthenticated attackers to read arbitrary files via the dir parameter. Attackers can send crafted requests with backslash sequences bypassing the str_replace filter to read files like config_db.php on Windows.
Intermesh Group-Office 3.3.0 before 3.5.5 contains an unauthenticated path traversal vulnerability in compress.php that allows remote attackers to read arbitrary files by manipulating the 'file' parameter. Attackers can send GET requests to /compress.php with '../' sequences in the 'file' parameter, which is appended to the cache path and passed to readfile(), to read files such as /etc/passwd.
Discourse 1.9.0.beta2 before 1.9.0.beta13 contains a reflected cross-site scripting vulnerability that allows unauthenticated attackers to inject scripts through the email parameter of /email/unsubscribed. Attackers can craft GET requests with SVG onload payloads, which unsubscribed.html.erb renders unescaped via html_safe, executing JavaScript in victims' browsers.
Broadstreet Ad Widget plugin for WordPress 2.2.0 before 2.12.0 contains a local file inclusion vulnerability that allows authenticated users to execute attacker-chosen PHP files by passing unsanitized input to require in views/modal/index.php. Attackers can supply directory traversal sequences in the 'step' parameter, optionally with a null byte, to include local files and execute PHP code.
QCubed 2.2.0 through 3.1.1 contains a reflected cross-site scripting vulnerability that allows unauthenticated attackers to inject scripts through the installation_path parameter. Attackers can craft GET requests to /assets/php/_devtools/installer/step_2.php with malicious installation_path values echoed unescaped, executing JavaScript in victims' browsers.
Javo Spot theme for WordPress before 3.0.0 contains a path traversal vulnerability that allows unauthenticated attackers to read arbitrary files via the fn parameter of the jvfrm_spot_get_json AJAX action. Attackers can send GET requests to /wp-admin/admin-ajax.php with fn set to ../../wp-config.php to retrieve database credentials and secret keys.
webpack-dev-server versions 5.1.0 before 5.2.7 and version 6.0.0 have an unauthenticated open-editor endpoint that validates the Host header with a regular expression meant for browser Origin schemes. A Host value beginning with file: or an extension scheme bypasses hostname and allowedHosts checks, and URL construction throws. In default non-production mode the server returns HTTP 500 with a full stack trace, disclosing filesystem paths, module locations, and source line numbers.
webpack-dev-server is a development server that provides live reloading for webpack projects. In versions before 5.2.7 and in version 6.0.0, when a proxy entry is configured to forward WebSockets, the server forwards non-HMR WebSocket upgrade requests to the proxy target without validating the Host or Origin headers, so the allowedHosts protection does not apply to those proxied upgrades. A malicious web page visited by a developer can open a cross-origin WebSocket through the dev server and read from and write to the proxied backend, even when the server is bound to loopback.
The OpenVPN 3 Core library versions 3.4 through 3.11.7 has improper certificate validation, allowing attackers to circumvent extended key usage restrictions.
A cleartext storage of sensitive information vulnerability in WatchGuard Endpoint Security's Full Disk Encryption feature for macOS allows a local, unprivileged user or process to obtain a managed computer's FileVault Personal Recovery Key by reading a persistently written diagnostic log file left readable by all local users.
Improper Handling of Highly Compressed Data (Data Amplification) in esaml_binding in dropbox esaml allows an unauthenticated attacker to exhaust server memory and crash the Erlang VM via a crafted compressed SAMLResponse. esaml_binding:decode_response/2 base64-decodes the attacker-supplied SAMLResponse, inflates it with zlib:unzip/1 with no bound on the output, then converts the result to a charlist with binary_to_list/1 before parsing. This runs on the SAML consume (ACS) and single-logout endpoints, which accept unauthenticated requests by design, and it runs before any signature check. A small deflate stream reaches a compression ratio near 1000 to 1, so a request body of tens of kilobytes inflates to hundreds of megabytes and then to several gigabytes of list heap, so a few requests exhaust memory and take the node down. This issue affects esaml: from 0.1.0 onward.
