Summary

The Plugin for Google Analytics by IO technologies for WordPress is vulnerable to Cross-Site Request Forgery (CSRF) in versions up to and including 1.1. This is due to missing or incorrect nonce validation on the Google Analytics settings page (ga.php), allowing unauthenticated attackers to update the plugin's stored Google Analytics tracking ID option (io-ga-id) via a forged request, provided they can trick a site administrator into clicking a link.

Risk Assessment

The risk involves the potential replacement of the Google Analytics tracking ID with a malicious one, which could lead to theft of analytics data or redirection of traffic to malicious servers, without the administrator's knowledge.

Recommendation

Immediately update the Plugin for Google Analytics by IO technologies to the latest available version that includes proper nonce validation. If no update is available, consider temporarily disabling the plugin.
