CVE-2026-60103
MediumCVSS 6.1Exploitation Probability (EPSS)
Low risk2th percentile - higher than 2% of all known CVEs
Summary
Blender 3.0.0 through 5.1.2 has an out-of-bounds read vulnerability via a crafted .blend file with a malicious member_index in the SDNA block. Missing bounds validation causes a crash (SIGSEGV) or heap memory disclosure.
Risk Assessment
An attacker can remotely crash the application or leak sensitive heap memory, threatening system stability and data confidentiality.
Recommendation
Upgrade Blender to version 5.1.3 or later, which includes a fix for array index validation in sdna_expand_names().
Other vulnerabilities in Blender
See all- CVE-2026-119722High
Blender before 4.5.15 and 5.x before 5.2.3 contains a heap out-of-bounds access vulnerability in read_struct() that skips size validation when a .blend file's SDNA struct layout compares equal. Attackers can supply a crafted .blend file with short blocks so field reads, writes, and pointer dereferences overrun heap memory, causing crashes or code execution.
- CVE-2026-119721Medium
Blender before 4.5.15 and 5.x before 5.2.3 contains an out-of-bounds read vulnerability in blo_bhead_id_* accessors in readfile.cc that read ID fields without block length checks. Attackers can supply a crafted .blend file with short ID blocks, causing heap over-reads that lead to crashes or heap memory disclosure.
- CVE-2026-119720Medium
Blender before 4.5.15 and 5.x before 5.2.3 contains a heap out-of-bounds read vulnerability in read_file_dna() that reads a GLOB block field without validating its declared length. Attackers can supply a crafted .blend file with a truncated GLOB block that triggers the out-of-bounds read and crashes Blender when opened.
- CVE-2026-119719High
Blender before 4.5.15 and 5.x before 5.2.3 contains a heap buffer overflow vulnerability in the blend file thumbnail extractor caused by 32-bit integer overflow in thumb_data_vertical_flip(). Attackers can craft a .blend file with malicious TEST block dimensions that trigger an out-of-bounds write when blender-thumbnailer or the Windows shell extension previews it, causing crashes or code execution.
- CVE-2026-119718High
Blender before 4.5.15 and 5.x before 5.2.3 contains a heap buffer overflow vulnerability caused by integer overflow in ptcache_data_alloc() when reading point cache files. Attackers can supply a crafted point cache file with a large totpoint value alongside a .blend file to crash Blender or execute code as the user.
Original NVD description (English source)
Blender 3.0.0 through 5.1.2 contains an out-of-bounds read vulnerability that allows attackers to trigger a crash or read adjacent heap memory by supplying a crafted .blend file with a malicious signed short member_index value in the SDNA block. The member_index field is used as an array index into the sdna->members[] array in sdna_expand_names() without bounds validation, allowing any value outside the allocated range to produce an invalid pointer subsequently passed to strlen(), resulting in a SIGSEGV crash or unintended heap memory disclosure.
