CVE-2026-119722

HighCVSS 7.8
Published: Updated: Translated: NVD NIST

Exploitation Probability (EPSS)

Low risk
0.18%

8th percentile - higher than 8% of all known CVEs

Summary

Blender before 4.5.15 and 5.x before 5.2.3 contains a heap out-of-bounds access vulnerability in read_struct() that skips size validation when a .blend file's SDNA struct layout compares equal. Attackers can supply a crafted .blend file with short blocks so field reads, writes, and pointer dereferences overrun heap memory, causing crashes or code execution.

Risk Assessment

Opening a malicious .blend file can crash Blender or execute arbitrary code in the user's context. This poses a risk to users opening unknown files.

Recommendation

Update Blender to version 4.5.15 or 5.2.3 (or later). Avoid opening .blend files from untrusted sources.
