Summary

In the Linux kernel, the USB dwc3 gadget driver could call dwc3_gadget_vbus_draw() from atomic context, which invoked power-supply-core APIs performing operations that may sleep. This led to kernel panics. The fix moves vbus_draw into a workqueue context.

Risk Assessment

May cause kernel panics and sudden system outages on devices with the DWC3 USB controller. This results in service unavailability and potential data loss.

Recommendation

Update the Linux kernel to a version with the fix moving vbus_draw to a workqueue. Especially important for embedded systems and devices with the DWC3 USB controller.

Original NVD description (English source)

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: usb: dwc3: gadget: Move vbus draw to workqueue context Currently dwc3_gadget_vbus_draw() can be called from atomic context, which in turn invokes power-supply-core APIs. And some these PMIC APIs have operations that may sleep, leading to kernel panic. Fix this by moving the vbus_draw into a workqueue context.
