Summary

In the Linux kernel, hci_cmd_sync_queue_once() did not indicate whether a queue item was actually added, so callers could not tell if callbacks would be invoked, leading to resource leaks. The function was changed to return -EEXIST when the queue item already exists, and all call sites were updated accordingly.

Risk Assessment

Resource leaks in the kernel Bluetooth subsystem can lead to gradual memory exhaustion and system instability, particularly during long-running operation or repeated invocation of the affected operations.

Recommendation

Update the Linux kernel to a version containing the fix for this issue (Bluetooth subsystem, hci_sync).

Original NVD description (English source)

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: Bluetooth: hci_sync: hci_cmd_sync_queue_once() return -EEXIST if exists hci_cmd_sync_queue_once() needs to indicate whether a queue item was added, so caller can know if callbacks are called, so it can avoid leaking resources. Change the function to return -EEXIST if queue item already exists. Modify all callsites to handle that.
