Summary

In the Linux kernel, the XFS filesystem was fixed to check the return value of xchk_scrub_create_subord. The function returned a mangled ENOMEM instead of NULL, and callers did not check for a null pointer. The fix ensures NULL is returned and callers check it and return ENOMEM. Most corrections are for code merged between 6.2 and 6.10.

Risk Assessment

Can lead to invalid pointer dereference and kernel crash during XFS scrub operations, causing system unavailability.

Recommendation

Update the Linux kernel to a version containing the fix.
