Summary

In the Linux kernel, the Octeontx2-af driver lacks proper checks for fwdata. On boards booted without the MAC block, accessing fwdata leads to kernel panics.

Risk Assessment

This may cause kernel crashes and system unavailability on affected hardware platforms. It poses a risk to stability and service availability.

Recommendation

Update the Linux kernel to a version containing the fix that adds fwdata checks. Test the update on affected hardware.
