Summary

The FV Flowplayer Video Player plugin for WordPress (all versions up to and including 7.5.55.7212) is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the 'comment' parameter due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. This allows unauthenticated attackers to inject arbitrary web scripts that execute when a user visits the injected page. This requires the 'Parse Vimeo and YouTube links' option to be enabled and a site administrator to approve the comment containing the malicious shortcode.

Risk Assessment

An unauthenticated attacker can inject a malicious script that executes in a user's browser, but this requires a specific administrator-enabled setting and comment approval.

Recommendation

Update the FV Flowplayer Video Player plugin to a version later than 7.5.55.7212. Consider disabling the 'Parse Vimeo and YouTube links' option and carefully moderating comments.

Original NVD description (English source)

The FV Flowplayer Video Player plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the 'comment' parameter in all versions up to, and including, 7.5.55.7212 due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page. This requires the 'Parse Vimeo and YouTube links' option to be enabled and a site administrator to approve the comment containing the malicious shortcode; execution is then triggered for any visitor who interacts with the video player on that page.
