Summary

In the Quay config-tool, the LDAP and SMTP validation functions make outbound connections to user-supplied endpoints without proper IP or host filtering. An attacker with config editor access can exploit these functions to perform internal network reconnaissance from the Quay pod's network position.

Risk Assessment

An attacker can map the internal network infrastructure, potentially leading to further attacks on other systems within the network.

Recommendation

Restrict access to the Quay config-tool editor to trusted users only and apply IP/host filtering in the validation functions.
