Summary

The Survey Anyplace plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the 'surveyanyplace_embed' shortcode in all versions up to and including 1.0.0 due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user supplied attributes. This allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level access and above to inject arbitrary web scripts that execute when a user accesses an injected page.

Risk Assessment

The risk involves the possibility of injecting malicious scripts by authenticated users, which could lead to data theft, session hijacking, or spreading malware among site visitors.

Recommendation

It is recommended to immediately update the Survey Anyplace plugin to the latest version that includes security fixes, and to restrict user privileges to the minimum necessary.
