CVE Catalog

CVE-2026-123025

CriticalCVSS 9.4
Published: Translated: NVD NIST

Summary

An OS command injection vulnerability was discovered in the Google Cloud DNS validation module of the OPNsense os-acme-client plugin through 4.17. The DnsGcloud::prepare() method decodes the dns_gcloud_key model field and directly interpolates the gcloud_account and gcloud_project string fields into a shell command passed to proc_open() via LeUtils::run_shell_command() without validation or escaping. A remote authenticated user with privileges to issue or renew certificates through the WebGUI/API can achieve arbitrary code execution as root.

Risk Assessment

A user with certificate management privileges can take full control of the OPNsense device and execute commands as root. This poses a serious threat to the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the entire network infrastructure.

Recommendation

Update the os-acme-client plugin to a version newer than 4.17 if available, or restrict certificate issuance privileges to trusted administrators only. Until a fix is released, consider disabling the Google Cloud DNS validation module.
