Summary

In the Linux kernel sound subsystem (ASoC: SOF: Intel: hda-dai), setting DAI parameters may cause a NULL pointer dereference if the topology does not create the correct number of DAI widgets for aggregated amps. The fix adds a validity check for the DAI widget associated with the CPU DAI.

Risk Assessment

Could cause kernel crash and audio unavailability on systems with Intel SOF sound cards, especially with custom topologies.

Recommendation

Update the Linux kernel to a version with the fix or apply the patch from your distribution.

Original NVD description (English source)

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ASoC: SOF: Intel: hda-dai: Ensure DAI widget is valid during params Each cpu DAI should associate with a widget. However, the topology might not create the right number of DAI widgets for aggregated amps. And it will cause NULL pointer deference. Check that the DAI widget associated with the CPU DAI is valid to prevent NULL pointer deference due to missing DAI widgets in topologies with aggregated amps.
