Summary

In the Linux kernel, a vulnerability in the drm/i915/hdcp driver was resolved by adding an encoder check in intel_hdcp_get_capability. During hotplug or suspend/resume scenarios the encoder is not always initialized, which can lead to a kernel null pointer dereference.

Risk Assessment

The vulnerability could lead to a kernel null pointer dereference during hotplug or suspend/resume scenarios, causing denial of service.

Recommendation

Update the Linux kernel to a version containing the fix. For systems with Intel graphics, verify the i915 driver is up to date.
