Summary

In the Linux kernel, the cpufreq subsystem called the optional exit() callback without checking for a valid pointer and did not clear the freq_table pointer when the callback was absent. The fix adds proper checks.

Risk Assessment

May lead to NULL pointer dereference and kernel crash if a cpufreq driver does not define exit(). Requires loading the relevant driver.

Recommendation

Update the Linux kernel to a version with the fix. Verify that used cpufreq drivers are compatible.
