Summary

In the Linux kernel dm snapshot module, a lockup occurred when exiting a snapshot with many exceptions because the loop freeing exceptions did not yield the CPU. The fix adds cond_resched() to that loop.

Risk Assessment

A system hang during DM snapshot operations with many exceptions can lead to service unavailability and require a reboot.

Recommendation

Update the Linux kernel to a version containing the fix for CVE-2024-35805 that adds cond_resched() in dm_exception_table_exit.
