Summary

A data race exists in the Linux kernel around the sysctl_net_busy_read variable in the netrom subsystem. The sysctl value can be changed concurrently while another thread reads it, without proper synchronization.

Risk Assessment

The data race may lead to reading an inconsistent value, resulting in system instability or a potential kernel hang. It requires local access to the system.

Recommendation

Update the Linux kernel to a version containing the fix for CVE-2024-27419. If updating is not possible, restrict local access to untrusted users.
