Summary

An out-of-bounds read vulnerability was found in the NVMe-oF/TCP subsystem in the Linux kernel. A remote attacker can send a crafted TCP packet, triggering a heap-based buffer overflow that may leak kmalloc data to the kernel ring buffer (dmesg).

Risk Assessment

Potential leak of sensitive kernel memory data into system logs accessible to local users. Systems using NVMe over TCP are at risk.

Recommendation

Update the Linux kernel to a version containing the fix. Restrict network access to NVMe-oF/TCP services to trusted sources.

Original NVD description (English source)

An out-of-bounds read vulnerability was found in the NVMe-oF/TCP subsystem in the Linux kernel. This issue may allow a remote attacker to send a crafted TCP packet, triggering a heap-based buffer overflow that results in kmalloc data being printed and potentially leaked to the kernel ring buffer (dmesg).
