CVE-2006-3595

High
Published: Translated: NVD NIST

Summary

The default configuration of the IOS HTTP server in Cisco Router Web Setup (CRWS) before version 3.3.0 build 31 does not require credentials. This allows remote attackers to access the server with arbitrary privilege levels (bug CSCsa78190).

Risk Assessment

An attacker could gain unauthorized access to the Cisco router with administrative privileges, potentially leading to configuration changes, traffic interception, or complete device takeover.

Recommendation

Update Cisco Router Web Setup (CRWS) to version 3.3.0 build 31 or later. If updating is not possible, disable the IOS HTTP server or restrict access to it using access control lists (ACLs).
