Weekly CVE digest
One email a week with newly published vulnerabilities worth knowing about. No account needed.
This digest covers new vulnerabilities in general, not your servers. If you want to know which of them actually run in your infrastructure, that is what Secvalis does: it scans your machines and reports only what concerns them.
VeloCloud Orchestrator (VCO) on-prem has a security issue that may allow a remote attacker to access privileged internal functionality and impact the VCO host. Any authenticated user can gain operator privileges and masquerade as a local "superuser operator" user, accessing functionality intended for internal use only and not meant to be remotely accessible.
Authlib from 0.13 until 1.8.0: authlib.common.security.is_secure_transport() uses a textual prefix comparison for loopback HTTP exemptions, so a URL whose userinfo begins with a loopback host can be accepted even when its parsed host is an external non-loopback system. An external party able to supply a URL to OIDC RP-Initiated Logout registration, authorization-server metadata validation, or another call site can bypass the TLS-required guard and cause cleartext redirection or acceptance of cleartext endpoints.
tarfile.tar_filter could be bypassed using crafted link entries, including symlinks with empty or directory-like names, to redirect later archive members outside the intended extraction directory. This allowed a malicious tar archive to cause tarfile.extractall() with filter="tar" to write files outside the destination directory, subject to the permissions of the extracting process.
Jitsu console before 2.14.0-beta.41 contains an incorrect authorization vulnerability in sources/state.ts handlers that call findFirst without await, so the syncId ownership check never fails. Authenticated users knowing another workspace's sync ID can read, overwrite or delete its stream cursors, causing data re-ingestion or skipped data.
Crawl4AI 0.7.0 before 0.9.5 contains an inefficient regular expression complexity vulnerability in the Docker API server that allows authenticated API clients to supply unbounded regular expressions in /crawl request bodies. Attackers can submit catastrophic-backtracking patterns via RegexExtractionStrategy.custom, RegexChunking.patterns or JsonCss, JsonXPath and JsonLxml schema regex fields against a crafted page to freeze the entire server, including /health.
Vikunja 2.2.0 before 2.7.1 contains an HTML injection vulnerability in CreateConversationalHeader in pkg/notifications/mail.go that interpolates display names and task and project titles raw into email anchors. Authenticated users can craft titles or display names that close the anchor and inject phishing links into task-comment and task-mention notification emails sent to project members.
libexpat through 2.9.0 contains a denial of service vulnerability because billion laughs protection in accountingDiffTolerated() in xmlparse.c detects entity amplification too late. Attackers can supply a moderately sized XML document with a large DTD and nested entity expansions to consume tens of seconds of CPU per parse.
libsmb2 before 6.3 contains integer overflow vulnerabilities in the DCE/RPC NDR decoder in lib/dcerpc.c that allow heap out-of-bounds reads and writes. A malicious SMB server or machine-in-the-middle on unsigned connections can send crafted NetrShareEnum replies with wrapping actual_count or max_count values when clients call smb2_share_enum_async(), corrupting heap memory.
CFITSIO through 4.7.0 contains an out-of-bounds write vulnerability in ffgcls2() in getcols.c that trusts attacker-controlled heap descriptor lengths for variable-length string columns. Attackers can supply a crafted FITS file that overflows a fixed 28,800-byte stack buffer and the caller's string array, enabling arbitrary code execution.
Ghidra before 12.2 contains an improper handling of highly compressed data vulnerability in ExtensionUtils.unzipToInstallationFolder() that allows attackers to exhaust disk space. Attackers can persuade users to install a crafted zip bomb extension archive that expands without size limits, causing later writes by Ghidra and other applications to fail.
Ghidra before 12.2 contains a resource allocation without limits vulnerability in FileSystemIndexHelper used by TarFileSystem and ZipFileSystem, which store unbounded archive entries. Attackers can persuade a user to open or batch-import a crafted TAR or ZIP archive with excessive entries to exhaust the Java heap and hang the session.
Motor.NET before 0.19.0 contains an uncaught exception vulnerability in JsonNetDeserializer.Deserialize that allows a remote attacker who can publish to a consumed queue or topic to crash the service permanently by sending structurally valid JSON that does not match the handler's expected type. JsonSerializationException is not caught alongside JsonReaderException and InvalidCastException, causing TypedConsumerService.SingleMessageConsumeAsync to treat the error as CriticalFailure and call StopApplication, which combined with the unacknowledged message being redelivered on restart results in a permanent crash-loop.
Motor.NET before 0.19.0 contains a denial-of-service vulnerability that allows a remote attacker who can produce records to a consumed topic to crash the service permanently by sending a single crafted record. By setting the content-type header to application/cloudevents+json and omitting required CloudEvent attributes (id, source, type), the attacker triggers an ArgumentException in KafkaMessageConsumer.SingleMessageHandlingAsync that is treated as fatal, causing the host to stop and re-process the same poison record on every restart, resulting in a permanent crash-loop.
Motor.NET before 0.19.0 contains a denial of service vulnerability that allows a remote attacker who can publish to a consumed queue to crash the service permanently by sending a message with crafted cloudEvents headers. Attackers can supply an invalid cloudEvents:motorversion, a single double-quote header value, or an unparsable typed attribute such as cloudEvents:time to trigger an unhandled exception in ExtractCloudEvent that is treated as fatal, causing the application to stop and the unacknowledged message to be redelivered on restart, resulting in a permanent crash-loop.
A memory corruption vulnerability exists in the web-based management interface of AOS-8. Successful exploitation could allow an authenticated low-privilege attacker with local access to view some system files and interrupt normal operation of the affected service.
A buffer overflow vulnerability exists in AOS-8. An authenticated attacker with administrative access could cause denial of service. Successful exploitation could crash the system, preventing reboot without manual intervention and disrupting network operations.
An arbitrary file deletion vulnerability exists in the command line interface of AOS-10. An authenticated attacker with administrative privileges could cause a denial of service. Successful exploitation could crash the system, preventing reboot without manual intervention and disrupting normal device operation.
An authentication bypass vulnerability exists in the PAPI protocol of AOS-8. An unauthenticated remote attacker could circumvent existing authentication controls. Successful exploitation could allow limited unauthorized modifications to certain system settings.
A stored cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability exists in the web-based management interface of AOS. An authenticated remote attacker with high privileges could inject malicious scripts. Successful exploitation could execute arbitrary script code in the context of another authenticated user's browser session.
An authentication bypass in the PAPI protocol of AOS-10 allows an unauthenticated adjacent attacker to circumvent existing authentication controls. Successful exploitation allows an attacker to change the state of certain settings of a vulnerable system.
