Summary

Ghidra before 12.2 contains a resource allocation without limits vulnerability in FileSystemIndexHelper used by TarFileSystem and ZipFileSystem, which store unbounded archive entries. Risk Assessment

Java heap exhaustion can hang the Ghidra session and cause loss of unsaved work. The vulnerability requires user interaction but can be used to disrupt analysis.

Recommendation

Update Ghidra to version 12.2 or later. Open only trusted archives and avoid batch-importing unknown files.
