CVE-2026-99162

Unknown
Published: Translated: NVD NIST

Summary

The GPIO shared subsystem has a use-after-free bug when adding shared proxies. The device name (dev_id) references a kobject's name string that may be freed before the GPIO lookup table.

Risk Assessment

This can lead to use-after-free in the kernel, causing system instability or potential privilege escalation. It occurs in the context of shared GPIO line management.

Recommendation

Update the kernel to a version with the fix that duplicates the dev_id string instead of storing a pointer into kobject memory.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: gpio: shared: fix use-after-free bug when adding shared proxies The GPIO lookup table can stay alive for longer than the kobject whose name string's address we're assigning to lookup->dev_id. Fix a potential UAF by duplicating the string.
