Summary

In the i2c viai2c-wmt driver, wmt_i2c_probe() acquires a clock via of_clk_get() but never releases the reference on error paths or module unload. This causes a clock resource leak.

Risk Assessment

The clock reference leak can prevent proper clock management and cause issues on repeated module load/unload or error handling. Impact is limited to platforms using this driver.

Recommendation

Update the kernel to a version where of_clk_get() is replaced with devm_clk_get(), ensuring automatic clock release.

Original NVD description (English source)

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: i2c: viai2c-wmt: Fix clock leak in wmt_i2c_probe() In wmt_i2c_probe(), i2c->clk is acquired using of_clk_get(). If any subsequent operation fails or when the module is unloaded, the clock reference count is never decremented via clk_put(), leading to a resource leak. Switch to devm_clk_get() so that the clock is automatically managed and released.
