Summary

In the Linux kernel, drm/vmwgfx lacks validation of the pitch coming from userspace before copying data from the underlying surface. This can lead to out-of-bounds reads during cursor snooping.

Risk Assessment

An out-of-bounds kernel memory read may occur, potentially disclosing data or causing a crash, leading to denial of service or information leak.

Recommendation

Update the Linux kernel to a version with the fix that validates the pitch alongside box dimensions before copying surface data.
