Summary

In the Linux kernel, the drm/amd/pm/si driver does not initialize the thermal work queue when DPM is disabled via the amdgpu.dpm=0 module parameter. Nevertheless, it attempts to schedule work on that queue. The fix prevents scheduling thermal work when the queue is not initialized.

Risk Assessment

Scheduling work on an uninitialized queue may lead to a kernel error, panic, or system instability on AMD GPUs with DPM disabled.

Recommendation

Update the Linux kernel to a version containing the drm/amd/pm/si fix. Relevant for systems using AMD GPUs with the amdgpu.dpm=0 parameter.

Original NVD description (English source)

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/amd/pm/si: Don't schedule thermal work when queue isn't initialized When DPM is turned off with the amdgpu.dpm=0 module parameter, the thermal work queue isn't initialized so we shouldn't schedule any work on it.
