Summary

In the Linux kernel drm/virtio driver, virtio_gpu_user_framebuffer_create() returns NULL instead of an ERR_PTR() error pointer. This leads to a NULL pointer dereference in drm_mode_addfb2().

Risk Assessment

The NULL pointer dereference can cause a kernel panic and denial of service on systems using the virtio GPU driver.

Recommendation

Update the Linux kernel to a version containing the fix that returns an ERR_PTR() error pointer instead of NULL.
