Summary

The authentication mechanism controlling access to the Redis database in NoMachine uses insufficient entropy when generating credentials. A local attacker able to execute low-privileged code can exploit this to escalate privileges and execute arbitrary code in the context of the service account.

Risk Assessment

A local attacker can take over the NoMachine service account and gain higher privileges on the system, potentially leading to full host compromise.

Recommendation

Update NoMachine to a patched version and restrict the ability of low-privileged local users to execute code.
