CVE-2026-86409

HighCVSS 8.1
Published: Updated: Translated: NVD NIST

Exploitation Probability (EPSS)

Elevated risk
1.10%

66th percentile - higher than 66% of all known CVEs

Summary

Setting `CURLOPT_AWS_SIGV4` to NULL does not disable SigV4 authentication, contrary to expectations and documentation. A subsequent transfer on the same handle still sends an `Authorization: AWS4-HMAC-SHA256` header to whatever URL is set next, leaking state information.

Risk Assessment

SigV4 authentication information may leak to an unexpected URL, potentially enabling unauthorized access to AWS resources.

Recommendation

Update curl to a version with the fix and avoid reusing the handle after changing SigV4 configuration until the update is applied.
