CVE-2026-85971
HighCVSS 7.1Exploitation Probability (EPSS)
Low risk1th percentile - higher than 1% of all known CVEs
Summary
Progress MarkLogic Server 12.x releases before 12.1.0 and 11.x releases before 11.3.7 assign overly permissive operating-system permissions to certain log files, which could allow a local user to read or alter log data. The corrected default permissions apply to newly created and rotated logs; existing logs retain their current permissions until remediated.
Risk Assessment
A local user could read or alter log data, potentially leading to information disclosure or tampering with audit trails. Existing log files remain exposed until permissions are manually corrected.
Recommendation
Upgrade MarkLogic Server to 12.1.0 or 11.3.7 (or later) and manually correct permissions on existing log files. Verify filesystem permissions for log directories.
Other vulnerabilities in Progress MarkLogic Server
See all- CVE-2026-9191Critical
Progress MarkLogic Server 12.x releases before 12.1.0 and 11.x releases before 11.3.7 do not sufficiently isolate user-supplied code executed through certain REST and XDBC evaluation paths from HTTP request, response, and session state. An attacker able to execute code through an affected path could perform unauthorized actions or compromise an authenticated session.
- CVE-2026-85956Critical
Progress MarkLogic Server 12.x releases before 12.1.0 and 11.x releases before 11.3.7 allow a remote attacker with delegated database-administrator privileges to perform backup or restore operations on forests outside the authorized database scope, which could result in unauthorized access to or modification of security-critical data.
- CVE-2026-85955Critical
Progress MarkLogic Server 12.x releases before 12.1.0 and 11.x releases before 11.3.7 allow a remote attacker with query-execution access to invoke an XQuery evaluation function without the additional required evaluation privilege, which could result in server-side code execution with elevated permissions.
- CVE-2026-85948Critical
Progress MarkLogic Server 12.x releases before 12.1.0 and 11.x releases before 11.3.7 contain an XQuery injection flaw in a deprecated Management API package path. A remote attacker with manage-user-level privileges could exploit this flaw to obtain persistent unauthorized administrative control.
- CVE-2026-85947Critical
Progress MarkLogic Server versions 12.x before 12.1.0 and 11.x before 11.3.7 contain an authorization flaw in certain forest-management operations. A remote attacker with forest-management privileges could exploit this flaw to create a persistent unauthorized administrator account, potentially resulting in complete unauthorized administrative control of the server.
- CVE-2026-9195Critical
A cross-site scripting vulnerability in the Query Console of Progress MarkLogic Server before 11.3.6 and 12.0.3 allows a remote attacker who lures an authenticated administrator to a crafted URL to execute arbitrary JavaScript in the administrator's browser session, capture credentials, and perform privileged actions on the administrator's behalf.
- CVE-2026-9193Critical
An improper privilege management vulnerability in the Hadoop integration of Progress MarkLogic Server before 11.3.6 and 12.0.3 allows an authenticated user with a low-privileged Hadoop role to escalate privileges and execute privileged operations against the Security database.
- CVE-2026-9192Critical
An authentication bypass vulnerability in the ODBC App Server of Progress MarkLogic Server before 11.3.6 and 12.0.3 allows an unauthenticated remote attacker to bypass password verification and execute queries with the privileges of any named user known to the server, including administrators.
- CVE-2026-9190Critical
An HTTP request smuggling vulnerability in the HTTP App Server of Progress MarkLogic Server before 11.3.6 and 12.0.3 allows a remote attacker to bypass authentication and authorization checks, hijack a legitimate user's session, or capture credentials. The vulnerability occurs when a crafted HTTP request containing both Content-Length and Transfer-Encoding headers causes a reverse proxy and MarkLogic Server to interpret request boundaries differently.
- CVE-2026-8709Critical
An improper privilege management vulnerability in the REST API document patch operation of Progress MarkLogic Server before 11.3.6 and 12.0.3 allows an authenticated user with a low-privileged REST role to escalate privileges and execute privileged operations against the Security database.
