Summary

Buffer overflow vulnerabilities exist in an underlying service of AOS-8 that could lead to unauthenticated remote code execution by sending specially crafted packets to UDP port 8211 of the PAPI protocol. Successful exploitation could allow an attacker to execute arbitrary code as a privileged user on the underlying operating system.

Risk Assessment

The vulnerability allows an unauthenticated remote attacker to take control of the device with privileged rights, potentially resulting in full compromise of the network infrastructure.

Recommendation

Install the available AOS-8 updates as soon as possible and restrict access to PAPI UDP port 8211 to trusted management networks only.
