Summary

Wazuh 4.14.3 before 4.14.8 and 4.10.4 contains a case-sensitivity mismatch between the ossec.conf validator and wazuh-logcollector that bypasses remote-command validation. An authenticated user with manager:update_config can inject an uppercase LOG_FORMAT command localfile that the collector runs as root on reload.

Risk Assessment

A user with permission to edit manager configuration can achieve arbitrary command execution as root, effectively taking over the Wazuh server.

Recommendation

Upgrade Wazuh to 4.14.8 or later (or 4.10.4+ in the 4.10 branch) and restrict manager:update_config to trusted accounts.
