CVE-2026-41525
MediumCVSS 6.5Exploitation Probability (EPSS)
Low risk2th percentile - higher than 2% of all known CVEs
Summary
KDE Dolphin before 25.12.3 allows applications in a Flatpak (or with AppArmor confinement) to open folders outside of the application sandbox without additional scrutiny. Dolphin's implementation of the FileManager1 protocol allows the path given to be any type of file, including scripts or executables. By default Dolphin prompts the user for consent, but the intended behavior is to block the attempted action rather than present a consent prompt.
Risk Assessment
A sandboxed application may attempt to open files outside the sandbox, weakening isolation and potentially leading to execution of untrusted scripts or executables with user consent.
Recommendation
Update KDE Dolphin to version 25.12.3 or later. Until then, be cautious with launch prompts triggered by sandboxed applications.

(By default, Dolphin will then prompt the user to determine if they want to launch a script or executable; however, the intended behavior is to block the attempted action, not present a consent prompt.)
