Summary

In Mojic before 2.1.4, the CipherEngine uses a standard equality operator (!==) to verify the HMAC-SHA256 integrity seal during decryption. This creates an observable timing discrepancy (CWE-208), allowing an attacker to bypass the file integrity check via a timing attack. The vulnerability is fixed in 2.1.4.

Risk Assessment

An attacker may bypass file integrity verification, undermining trust in processed data and potentially enabling delivery of modified content. The risk affects users of vulnerable Mojic versions.

Recommendation

Upgrade Mojic to version 2.1.4 or later. Until patched, do not rely solely on the integrity verification performed by this tool.
