CVE-2026-27142

MediumCVSS 6.1
Published: Updated: Translated: NVD NIST

Summary

In the Go language, actions that insert URLs into the content attribute of HTML meta tags are not escaped. This can allow XSS if the meta tag also has an http-equiv attribute with the value "refresh". A new GODEBUG setting, htmlmetacontenturlescape, was added to disable escaping.

Risk Assessment

Could lead to execution of malicious script in the user's browser (XSS) in Go applications generating meta tags from untrusted data. May result in session or data theft.

Recommendation

Update the Go toolchain to a version containing the fix. Review applications generating meta tags from user data and set GODEBUG htmlmetacontenturlescape=1 if needed.
