Summary

libsoup contains a request smuggling vulnerability in its HTTP/1 header parsing logic. The soup_message_headers_append_common() function unconditionally appends header values without validating duplicate or conflicting Content-Length fields. This allows sending requests with multiple Content-Length headers of differing values.

Risk Assessment

Request smuggling may lead to bypassing security controls, cache poisoning, or request injection. It can affect the integrity of communication between proxies and backends.

Recommendation

Update libsoup to a version with Content-Length header validation fixes. Where possible, enforce header normalization at the proxy layer.

A request smuggling vulnerability exists in libsoup's HTTP/1 header parsing logic. The soup_message_headers_append_common() function in libsoup/soup-message-headers.c unconditionally appends each header value without validating for duplicate or conflicting Content-Length fields. This allows an attacker to send HTTP requests containing multiple Content-Length headers with differing values.
