CVE-2026-26217
HighCVSS 8.6Exploitation Probability (EPSS)
High risk81th percentile - higher than 81% of all known CVEs
Summary
Crawl4AI versions prior to 0.8.0 contain a local file inclusion vulnerability in the Docker API deployment. The /execute_js, /screenshot, /pdf, and /html endpoints accept file:// URLs, allowing unauthenticated remote attackers to read arbitrary files from the server filesystem.
Risk Assessment
An attacker can access sensitive files such as /etc/passwd, /etc/shadow, application configuration files, and environment variables via /proc/self/environ, potentially exposing credentials, API keys, and internal application structure.
Recommendation
Immediately upgrade Crawl4AI to version 0.8.0 or later, which fixes this vulnerability. Additionally, restrict access to the Docker API using a firewall or authentication.
Other vulnerabilities in Crawl4AI
See all- CVE-2026-56260Critical
Crawl4AI before version 0.8.7 has an arbitrary file write vulnerability in the /screenshot and /pdf endpoints of the Docker API server. The output_path parameter accepts arbitrary filesystem paths without validation, allowing an attacker to overwrite server files and cause denial of service.
- CVE-2026-57572Critical
Crawl4AI before version 0.9.0 has a vulnerability in the Docker API that allows injecting arguments into the Chromium browser. An attacker can use Chromium switches to replace the child process launch command, leading to arbitrary code execution in the container.
- CVE-2026-57571Critical
In Crawl4AI before version 0.9.0, a vulnerability allows arbitrary file write due to insufficient path confinement. An attacker can control the destination filename via Content-Disposition header or suggested filename, leading to file write outside the downloads directory. This can escalate to remote code execution.
- CVE-2026-53753Critical
Crawl4AI before version 0.8.7 has a vulnerability in the _safe_eval_expression() function in the computed fields feature. The AST validator only blocks attributes starting with underscore, but generator and frame object attributes (gi_frame, f_back, f_builtins) do not start with underscore, enabling a complete sandbox escape to achieve arbitrary code execution. The attack requires no authentication (JWT disabled by default) and is triggered via POST /crawl with a crafted extraction schema.
- CVE-2026-26216Critical
Crawl4AI versions prior to 0.8.0 contain a remote code execution vulnerability in the Docker API deployment. The /crawl endpoint accepts a hooks parameter containing Python code that is executed using exec(). The __import__ builtin was included in the allowed builtins, allowing unauthenticated remote attackers to import arbitrary modules and execute system commands.
- CVE-2026-119122Medium
Crawl4AI before 0.9.5 contains a blind server-side request forgery vulnerability in the Docker server that allows API clients to bypass the egress proxy by enabling check_cache_freshness. Attackers can cache a controlled URL, then trigger CacheValidator to follow 302 redirects or DNS rebinding to internal and cloud-metadata addresses for port and service discovery.
- CVE-2026-119121Medium
Crawl4AI from 0.9.0 before 0.9.5 contains a JavaScript injection vulnerability in the Docker API server that allows authenticated API clients to run arbitrary JavaScript in the crawl page via allowlisted css_selector and wait_for fields. Attackers can inject quotes into css_selector or supply js: conditions in wait_for, bypassing the js_code block to alter page state and returned crawl content.
- CVE-2026-119120High
Crawl4AI from 0.9.0 before 0.9.5 fails to filter the CosineStrategy model_name field in untrusted Docker API request bodies. An authenticated client can choose which HuggingFace model the server loads by referencing a malicious repository with a pickle weight file.
- CVE-2026-119119High
Crawl4AI before 0.9.5 contains a denial of service vulnerability in the Docker API server where _clamp_untrusted() fails to cap the delay_before_return_html, mean_delay, and max_range fields of untrusted CrawlerRunConfig bodies. Unauthenticated attackers can send huge values to /crawl or /crawl/stream.
- CVE-2026-119118Medium
Crawl4AI before 0.9.5 contains an improper certificate validation vulnerability because Chromium always launches with --ignore-certificate-errors. Man-in-the-middle or DNS-controlling attackers can serve forged content to the crawler and read cookies and headers sent, while hard-coded --no-sandbox also overrides CRAWL4AI_CHROMIUM_SANDBOX.
