Summary

IBM WebSphere Application Server 8.5 and 9.0, and IBM WebSphere Application Server - Liberty 17.0.0.3 through 26.0.0.8 could allow a remote attacker to conduct phishing attacks using an open redirect attack. By persuading a victim to visit a specially crafted website, an attacker could spoof the displayed URL to redirect a user to a malicious site that appears trusted.

Risk Assessment

Open redirect facilitates phishing and credential theft because victims can be redirected from the organization's trusted domain to a malicious website.

Recommendation

Update IBM WebSphere Application Server and WebSphere Liberty to fixed versions and consider validating redirect parameters in applications.
