CVE Catalog

CVE-2026-124490

CriticalCVSS 9.1
Published: Translated: NVD NIST

Summary

OpenEMR before 8.3.0 contains a path traversal vulnerability in the RingCentral RCFaxClient disposeDocument() method of oe-module-faxsms that allows authenticated attackers to read and write arbitrary files via the file_path parameter. Attackers can use action=download to read credentials and source code, or action=setup with base64 content to write web-executable files for code execution.

Risk Assessment

A low-privileged attacker can access critical data, including database credentials, and then achieve remote code execution. This poses a serious threat to the confidentiality and integrity of the system and patient data.

Recommendation

Update OpenEMR to version 8.3.0 or later. Restrict access to the fax/SMS module to trusted users only and review service account permissions.
