CVE-2026-122193

CriticalCVSS 9.9
Published: Translated: NVD NIST

Summary

In Trusted Remote Execution (REX) before 2026-07-28, the example SSM document provisioning script contains an OS command injection flaw. An authenticated remote user permitted to invoke the Rex-RO or Rex-RW SSM document can execute arbitrary commands as root on the managed instance, bypassing Cedar policy enforcement.

Risk Assessment

A user with permission to invoke the SSM documents can gain full root control over managed instances, posing a serious privilege escalation and infrastructure compromise risk.

Recommendation

Delete any Rex-RO and Rex-RW SSM documents created from the example script in each account and Region where it was run. Apply corrected scripts or restrict permissions to invoke these documents.
