HighCVSS 7.8
Published: Updated: Translated: NVD NIST

Summary

The pppoe_wrapper vendor daemon from the Amlogic Android SDK on Nexbox A95X TV boxes contains a command injection vulnerability. A local attacker can send a crafted message to the world-writable AF_UNIX socket /dev/socket/pppoe_wrapper, which is passed unfiltered to system(3) and executed as root.

Risk Assessment

Allows full privilege escalation to root on the device, enabling an attacker to take control of the TV box and install malware.

Recommendation

Restrict access to the /dev/socket/pppoe_wrapper socket, update the device firmware to a patched version, or disable the pppoe_wrapper service if not needed.
