Summary

llama.cpp versions from b2877 before b11935 contain an uncaught exception vulnerability in the ggml-rpc server. An unauthenticated remote attacker can send an oversized message length (e.g., in a SET_TENSOR command), triggering std::length_error and aborting the process. This causes denial of service to all clients.

Risk Assessment

An unauthenticated attacker can remotely crash the RPC server, blocking service for all clients. The risk applies to any ggml-rpc server exposed to the network.

Recommendation

Update llama.cpp to version b11935 or later. Until patched, restrict network access to the ggml-rpc server to trusted hosts only.

Original NVD description (English source)

llama.cpp b2877 before b11935 contains an uncaught exception vulnerability in the ggml-rpc server that allows unauthenticated remote attackers to crash the rpc-server by sending oversized message lengths. After the HELLO handshake, attackers can send a command such as SET_TENSOR with a length above std::vector::max_size(), triggering an uncaught std::length_error that aborts the process and denies service to all clients.
