Summary

ImageMagick before 6.9.13-58 and 7.x before 7.1.2-33 contains a memory leak in the JNG encoder that fails to release allocated memory when processing a crafted image. Crafted images encoded to JNG can leak memory.

Risk Assessment

Repeated memory leaks can lead to resource exhaustion and limited denial of service (DoS). Organizations processing untrusted images to JNG format are exposed.

Recommendation

Update ImageMagick to version 6.9.13-58 or 7.1.2-33 (or later). Restrict processing of untrusted images to JNG format until the fix is applied.
