Exploitation Probability (EPSS)

Low risk
0.12%

2th percentile - higher than 2% of all known CVEs

Summary

ImageMagick before 6.9.13-58 and 7.x before 7.1.2-33 contains a policy bypass in the PS, PDF and XPS decoders that circumvents the security policy's list length limit on scene selection. A specific argument can cause processing of more scenes than permitted.

Risk Assessment

Bypassing the scene limit can lead to resource exhaustion and denial of service (DoS). Organizations processing untrusted PS, PDF or XPS files are exposed.

Recommendation

Update ImageMagick to version 6.9.13-58 or 7.1.2-33 (or later). Restrict processing of untrusted PS, PDF and XPS files until the fix is applied.
