Summary

The GeoDirectory plugin for WordPress before 2.8.196 does not properly escape a post badge shortcode attribute for a JavaScript context before placing it in an inline event handler. This allows users with the Contributor role and above to perform Stored Cross-Site Scripting attacks against anyone who clicks the badge, including administrators.

Risk Assessment

A low-privileged attacker can execute arbitrary JavaScript in an administrator's browser, potentially leading to session hijacking and full site compromise. This requires victim interaction (clicking the badge).

Recommendation

Update the GeoDirectory plugin to version 2.8.196 or later. Consider restricting content publishing by Contributor roles until the fix is deployed.
