Summary

Tbed through 20240319 contains a missing authorization vulnerability that allows any authenticated user to rename other users' images through the /admin/setImgFileName endpoint. Attackers can supply a victim's imgname, exposed in public image URLs and album listings, to overwrite display names with attacker-chosen text attributed to the victim.

Risk Assessment

Attackers can impersonate other users by assigning them offensive or misleading display names. This can lead to disinformation, defamation, and loss of trust in the system.

Recommendation

Upgrade Tbed beyond version 20240319 once a fixed release is available. Until then, add authorization checks to the /admin/setImgFileName endpoint so only the image owner can rename it.
