Summary

PKP Open Journal Systems through 3.5.0-5 contains an insecure direct object reference vulnerability that allows journal or subscription managers to access other journals' subscriptions by supplying arbitrary subscription ids. Attackers can enumerate sequential ids through editSubscription to view subscriber details and use updateSubscription to reassign subscriptions to their own journal, revoking victims' access.

Risk Assessment

Managers with privileges can access subscriber data of other journals and hijack their subscriptions, leading to confidentiality breaches and denial of access for legitimate users. This may result in leakage of personal data and service disruption.

Recommendation

Update PKP Open Journal Systems to a version later than 3.5.0-5 to fix the IDOR vulnerability. Until patched, restrict manager privileges and monitor unusual subscription operations.
