Summary

Erupt through 2.3.0 contains an HQL injection vulnerability that allows authenticated users to bypass tree-scoped data filters by injecting unescaped quotes into the linkTreeVal parameter of POST /erupt-api/data/table/{erupt}. Attackers holding query permission on entities with String-keyed linkTree targets can append always-true OR clauses or boolean subqueries to read data from other mapped entities.

Risk Assessment

An authenticated user with query permissions can access data outside their authorized scope, leading to information disclosure from other entities. This breaks the tree-based access control model and may expose sensitive business data.

Recommendation

Upgrade Erupt to a version newer than 2.3.0 that includes the linkTreeVal parameter validation fix. Until then, restrict query permissions on entities with String-keyed linkTree targets.
