Summary

BigFix Platform uses the Mozilla CA certificate bundle (PEM). Bundle versions dated before 2026/10/20 still trust certificates whose private keys have been compromised. When BigFix Platform validates servers using such a bundle, an on-path attacker can impersonate remote servers and tamper with files downloaded by the application.

Risk Assessment

An on-path attacker could impersonate servers and deliver tampered files downloaded by the application, potentially leading to system compromise. The issue affects environments using an outdated certificate bundle.

Recommendation

Update the certificate bundle to version 2026/10/20 or later, available starting from BES Support v1520. Verify that all BigFix Platform instances use the fixed bundle.
